Our Craft Club Christmas Eves

Created by wenshel 11 years ago
Many years ago, when our children were small, our Craft Club and their families would gather at my house on Christmas Eve. Pam and Mike Sywulych with Paul and Nicholas, Ebie and Ian Pitfield with Geoff and Sandy, Vivianne and Ian Reid with Yvette and John, Nancy and John Satterberg with Heidi, Eric, Kirsten, Sten and Per....and often Ebba, too. My mother, Norah, joined Glen, Julie and I. After eating an easy "potluck" dinner, Ian P. and Mike would take turns playing carols on the piano. Nancy would pick up her flute and join in. The highlight for Ebie and I was always "Once In Royal David's City". Nancy knew this and would practice it before hand, just for us. She always had wonderfully thoughtful homemade treasures for the children: ginger bread kids, baker's clay ornaments, short bread stars. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas with our friends. When the Satterbergs left to return to the US, our Christmas tradition changed. The memories of those days are still so wonderful
